2026 Rio Rico Protest & Protect @ Garretts ( in front of at street )
Apr 15 @ 4:00 pm — 4:59 pm

Join us as we stand united against the administration’s ongoing dismantling of the systems and rights that belong to all of us. This is more than a protest — it’s a promise. Together, we defend our shared values, our communities, and the future we deserve.

Whether it’s access to healthcare, education, reproductive freedom, fair wages, or the right to vote — our collective power is what protects them all.

Bring your signs, your voices, and your determination. These are peaceful demonstrations of care and concern for our community.

We gather not only to resist what’s being torn down, but to protect what we know can still be rebuilt — stronger, fairer, and for everyone.

Because when we protect one another, we protect all of us.

Rush-hour Resistance Rally @ Bell Rd & Civic Center Dr in Surprise
Apr 15 @ 4:00 pm — 5:29 pm

Welcome to the Rush-hour Resistance!

📣 Rush Hour Resistance Rally began with a clear idea: neighbors, gathering peacefully and regularly on busy nearby streets, could remind our communities that democracy is essential and that silence is unacceptable. Over the last year, RhRR expanded from a handful of participants to multiple locations across the Valley, reaching thousands of pedestrians and motorists each week. This momentum is significant, as is the duty it brings.

🗳️ As we approach the midterm elections, our united mission is to safeguard free and fair elections and promote civic participation, particularly in local and primary races where every vote carries weight. Our weekly rallies are more than outlets for frustration; they are consistent, visible commitments that normalize voting and democratic engagement as neighborly expectations.

🕊️ RhRR is a peaceful, nonconfrontational movement. Our goal is to reach the broader community, not to confront those seeking conflict. When tensions surface, we withdraw, stay composed, and look out for one another. This discipline keeps our rallies inviting and helps newcomers feel secure joining us.

🫂 Most of all, RhRR is about people caring for one another while standing up for the future of our democracy. Every person who shows up, every sign held, and every conversation sparked on a street corner is part of something larger and deeply hopeful.

Here’s what’s in store for our Wednesday afternoon event in Surprise:

🕥 The event starts at 4:00 pm. You are free to show up anytime, but we recommend arriving a few minutes early to introduce yourself. We end promptly at 5:30 pm.

🅿️ There is limited parking behind the plaza, and a vacant building with parking just down from Civic Center next to the bank. We haven’t had issues before, but parking enforcement is unpredictable. If concerned, check with others.

🚦🚶‍➡️ Some people stand on a corner of the intersection. Others walk the crosswalks when the lights change. You do you!

🖌️ One of RhRR’s strengths is that people feel free to express themselves. Ideally, your signs would help articulate any of our three pillars:

  • Defending democracy and the rule of law
  • Encouraging voting
  • Protecting neighbors and communities (e.g., immigrants, LGBTQIA+ people, workers, and veterans)

This approach keeps signs aligned with RhRR’s purpose, while preserving personal expression and emotional authenticity.

At this location, we’re more focused on stopping the ICE detention center just down the street. So signs to that effect would be great!

🇺🇳 Flags, banners, and even inflatable costumes are welcome. Some blow lots of bubbles. While our mission is serious, humor and camaraderie matter.

😷 RhRRs are peaceful, public events. Most attendees don’t hide their faces, though some do; participate at your comfort level. Photos and videos are common on social media, but you can ask posters to remove accidental appearances.

Thanks in advance for joining us. See you on the streets! ✊

Hump Day! Forget Trump Day! @ Spinato's Pizzeria and Family Kitchen
Apr 15 @ 5:00 pm — 6:59 pm

Come take a break from the day to day fight for democracy, the holidays or anything else and just enjoy each other’s company in a relaxing environment.

If you’re already a part of our Indivisible chapter, let’s spend some time together not working on a project!

If you’re not familiar with Desert Democracy, please come! We all feel like joyful warriors when we gather and grow. It’s an act of defiance to hang out with like-minded people and just have a good time!

Pro tip: Spinato’s happy hour menu is available until 6pm.

A core principle behind all Desert Democracy events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events.

Phoenix West Valley – Adopt a Day Labor Corner Training @ Location shared upon registration
Apr 15 @ 6:00 pm — 7:29 pm

Please join NDLON for a workshop and conversation on how to Adopt a Day Labor Corner. Come and make a plan for how to show up in person, nonviolently, with courage, with love, and with urgency for our immigrant neighbors.

What we witnessed around the country — ICE raids, armored vehicles, masked agents terrorizing families — may feel like a distant storm to some. But for immigrant workers, for day laborers, for our neighbors, it is a looming fear as we have noted an uptick in the presence of ICE sightings and arrests.

This moment demands more than watching. It demands that we show up for one another — in person, nonviolently, with courage, with love, and with urgency. If you are not at risk of deportation, we are asking you to consider taking action — today.

10,000 Moms Go Live: Shut Down Dilley @ Virtual
Apr 16 all-day

On April 16, join 10,000 moms going live to shut down Dilley—if you’ve been seeing what’s happening and asking what you can do, this is it. Sign up and get the toolkit.

Right now, mothers and children are being held inside the Dilley detention center after being taken from their homes and stripped of their dignity.

Families inside are reporting undrinkable water, rotten food, and children sinking into depression behind locked doors. Kids who should be in school are instead living in conditions no child should ever experience.

The children at Dilley are being held far beyond what is legally allowed. Under the law, they should not be detained longer than 20 days. But hundreds have been held for weeks, even months. Some for over 100 days.

100 days is a lifetime for a toddler.

This is not just wrong—it’s inhumane.

And when those children protested, they made one thing clear: they need someone on the outside to listen—and to act.

We’re answering that call.

On April 16, we’re creating a moment that cannot be ignored.

10,000 moms going live at the same time to:

  • Tell the truth about the conditions inside Dilley
  • Lift up the voices of children who are being held there
  • Demand: Shut down Dilley. Shut down all family detention. Bring every child home

This action builds toward moms showing up at Dilley on April 18—and a larger mobilization heading into Mother’s Day.

JOIN US

We are doing what those walls were built to stop:
making sure the voices of these children are heard everywhere.

If you’re a mom and you know this is wrong—
if you felt something reading this—

this is your moment to act.

Go live. Speak out. Stand with these families.
Be one of 10,000 moms taking action together.

Rush-hour Resistance Rally – ICE Field Office (Phoenix) @ ICE Phoenix Field Office
Apr 16 @ 7:30 am
Rush-hour Resistance Rally - ICE Field Office (Phoenix) @ ICE Phoenix Field Office
START TIME: The event starts at 7:30 am. You are free to show up anytime, but we recommend arriving a few minutes early to introduce yourself. We end promptly at 8:30 am.
GATHERING POINT: We gather on the WEST side of Central, just north of Holly. Please DO NOT protest on the east side. Immigrants have appointments in this building, and we don’t want to prohibit them from what they are required to do.
MESSAGING & FOCUS

One of RhRR’s strengths is that people feel free to express themselves.

For this location, try to make your messaging specific to immigration rights, human rights, and other anti-ICE slogans.

Flags, banners, and even inflatable costumes are welcome. Some blow lots of bubbles. While our mission is serious, humor and camaraderie matter.

RhRRs are peaceful, public events. Most attendees don’t hide their faces, though some do; participate at your comfort level. Photos and videos are commonly shared on social media, but you can ask posters to remove accidental appearances.

RECOMMENDED PARKING: Parking is a bit of a challenge. Some of us park on Holly St, directly across from the ICE Field Office. We haven’t had issues before, but parking enforcement is unpredictable. If concerned, take the light rail.
PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION: 🚌 Route 1 🚊 B Line

SPECIAL NOTES: 📣 Other groups demonstrate here as well, and not all of them are as committed to peaceful protesting. Stay alert, and be mindful of the immigrants entering and exiting the facility.

🥵 During hot weather, shade is limited. Bring water, sun protection, and consider a portable chair.

Coffee & Community (Scottsdale) @ Squarz Bakery & Cafe
Apr 16 @ 9:00 am — 10:29 am

Coffee & Community is a great opportunity to get together with like-minded friends, discuss the news of the day, and take action to protect our democracy.
